IT Buyer

The Buyer IT, or IT Buyer in French, manages the  supply of his company in these matters, which is why he must have a perfect knowledge of the needs of his company, both from a point of view qualitative than quantitative . In order to choose the equipment where the services (or service providers) he must know compare and especially negotiate the best quality / price ratio for his business. To do this, he must have multiple skills.



Indeed, it must first know and control all the product or service characteristics that he wishes to obtain and have a great knowledge of certain regulations for example: if he decides to choose one service provider rather than another, that this service provider comes from another State, the industrial buyer must be fully aware of customs and European regulations, etc.



MAIN ACTIVITIES:



The main activities of Buyer IT consist of:

 

  • Develop, implement and monitor the purchasing policy for IT perimeters;
  • Support internal customers on all their purchasing projects (new project, renewal, change of service provider, etc.);
  • Represent the purchasing function during the realization of expressions of need with the technical and functional referents of the operational departments;
  • Pilot and Manage the calls for tenders related to these purchasing portfolios (from sourcing to contracting);
  • Manage the supplier relationship, ensure quality performance including by carrying out corrective actions when they are necessary;
  • With the support of our lawyers, negotiate, set up and monitor contracts binding the Canal Group with our service providers, suppliers and partners;
  • Contribute to respecting the budgets established for each of the operational departments concerned;
  • Ensure economic monitoring of IT markets;
  • Ensure the reporting and communication of processed files, whether for the attention of the hierarchy or internal clients.

 



SKILLS AND QUALITIES:



The IT Buyer must be proactive with a great sense of initiative and must be able to work completely independently. He must also be able to:

 

  • Have acquired knowledge of the market in question;
  • Be able to place the corresponding call for tenders;
  • Knowing how to use the negotiation levers relating to these purchases;
  • Set up the ad hoc contract;
  • Be able to build the dashboard for this purchasing family.

 



EDUCATION:



In order to become a Buyer IT, it is necessary to obtain a   bac + 2/3 bac diploma minimum (DUT, BTS, professional license) specialized in purchasing. However, the most popular degrees remain the bac +5 diplomas such as :

 

  • Business school, economics or equivalent, master 2 specialization commercial
  • Engineer school, with a purchasing / commercial specialization 
  • University education,  with a  purchasing / commercial specialization

 

A specialization in IT and digital is preferred, even sometimes necessary. It can be done through options, training or through internships .
